Online Internship Program

The Harvard Crimson, the nation’s oldest continuously published daily college newspaper, is partnering with HS2 Academy to offer a rigorous, hands-on journalism internship for high school students. This program will equip participants with essential skills in research, critical thinking, interviewing, and writing.

Program Duration: Dec 1, 2024 to Jan 19, 2025 10:00 am- 12:00 pm (Pacific Time)

Tuition: Registration Fee $100 + $2800 (HS2 College Counseling Students get 20% discount)

Program Structure:

1. Four-Week Pre-Internship Training (December 1 - December 22, 2024)

- Workshop 1: December 1 - The Fundamentals of News Writing / Ethics of Reporting

- Assignment 1 Due: December 6

- Workshop 2: December 8 - Introduction to Opinion Writing / Political Journalism

- Assignment 2 Due: December 13

- Workshop 3: December 15 - Journalistic Writing Beyond News / Business, Finance, and Economy Reporting

- Assignment 3 Due: December 20

- Workshop 4:December 22 - Industry Panel

- No Assignment, Transition to Mentorship Program

2. Four-Week Mentorship Series (January 2025)

- Participants will engage in mentorship sessions with The Harvard Crimson editors, concluding on January 19. Students will work at The Harvard Crimson, gaining hands-on experience researching, drafting, and publishing articles on pressing societal issues. Their work may be published online and featured in a printed issue.

Certification:

All participants will receive a certificate of completion from The Harvard Crimson.
